The Portal is a gateway that leads to Budget Management, Position Control, and electronic Personnel Transactions in order to provide schools and districts with the information they need to effectively manage school staffing. Through the Portal, the Principal, Finance Department, and Human Resources Department can all see and use the very same information - information that is accurate and current because it is pulled straight from the district's HRMS system and presented in an easy to understand interface accessible to everyone via the Internet. eHRPortal Conception

In 2003, the DeKalb County School System, one of Metro-Atlanta's largest districts with over 100,000 students, decided to try an experiment: In order to evaluate their budget and position control systems, they had the principal of their smallest elementary school bring his employee roster to the district office. There he sat down with the heads of the Finance, Human Resources, and Instructional departments, each of whom had brought their own rosters for the very same school.

No two of them matched.

No two departments had the same employee or payroll budget information, even though this was the district's smallest elementary school with barely over 300 students. No one wanted to imagine what results the same test would yield from the district's largest high school.

Clearly, something had to be done.

The journey that DeKalb started that day would lead them to the eHR Portal.
